BANK ALERT: A $412.88 charge was attempted on your card. If this wasn't you, verify your account now: bank-secure-verify.co/login
The three tells
- Urgency. Act now, your account will be closed, the offer expires tonight. Pressure exists to stop you thinking.
- Secrecy. Don't tell your parents, keep this between us, this is a special opportunity. Isolation is a weapon.
- Unusual payment. Gift cards, crypto, wire transfer, Zelle to a stranger, or sending money back. Real organizations don't work this way.
When two of the three show up together, stop. Verify through a number or app you already trust, never the one in the message.
Scenarios are fictional composites written for teaching. If you think you've been targeted for real, stop responding and tell a trusted adult.
